Patent Annuities

Search the patent FAQ list:

Which are the key deadlines a patent owner should have in mind for effective intellectual property management?

Deadlines are calculated depending on the different country laws. Of course deadlines play an important role in maintaining the validity of a patent. Our clients will be reminded of any upcoming annuity. Very important are the:

  • Due dates for payment of annuities
  • Grace periods for late patent annuity payments.

What happens if I fail to pay the annuity for my patent on time?

For some countries, a free grace period might apply without involving any costs. After that period, a late payment involving extra costs might be possible. If the payment is not settled within the grace period, there might be the possibility of a re-instatement, involving extra costs as well. However, you run the risk of losing the patent by not paying an annuity in the grace period.
